To be completely honest, we're not big fans of bottled steak sauce. Nothing personal, just not big fans. But when you make it from scratch...holy smokes is it a game-changer.
In our books, there's nothing much better than a perfectly prepared steak. For instance, we love our Cowboy Ribeye or our Filet Mignon, but even with those, we serve them with homemade sauce (Chimichurri and Bordelaise, respectively). It's time for a homemade steak sauce that rivals the best sauces in great steakhouses everywhere.

After simmering the onion and garlic in the butter, it's time to bring it all together.

What about the lemon juice? It’s in the ingredient list but not in the directions. Add or don’t add?
Kris Longwell says
Hi Katie! So sorry for the delayed response and thank you so much for the heads up about the lemon juice! You add that in right after the soy sauce. It simmers with the other ingredients after you've sautéed the onion and garlic. We've updated the recipe to reflect this! We hope you make it and like it! Do keep us posted if you do!!

It's in the method
Sabrina says
Hi, this looks amazing! Can you use whiskey instead of bourbon?
Kris Longwell says
Absolutely!!
Victoria says
Can you make this with it tasting the same without bourbon?
Victoria says
Can you also substitute rosemary with thyme?
Kris Longwell says
Of course! We think rosemary has a more pronounced taste than thyme, so maybe try a little at first, and then add more if you want more of the rosemary taste!
Kris Longwell says
Hi Victoria! Absolutely! This sauce is so deeply flavorful, it's still going to be wonderful without the bourbon. Let you make it and what you think! Best, Kris & Wesley
