This iconic condiment is a true Southern classic.

How To Make Alabama White Sauce

This is a deeply flavorful BBQ sauce that is so simple to put together.

We make a batch and then put it on everything from grilled chicken, burgers, veggies, and beyond!

The Ingredients You Will Need

The ingredient list for this amazing sauce is not exotic at all, and many of the items you will probably have on hand.

Here’s What You’ll Need to Have on Hand

MayonnaiseHomemade is great, but good-quality purchased is great, too. We recommend Dukes or Hellmans.
Vinegar – Apple cider is recommended, but you could substitute white wine or plain white vinegar.
Corn syrup – Dark is best.
Horseradish sauce – Get prepared sauce in the condiments section of your supermarket.
Seasonings – Salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
Jalapeño – Pickled, finely chopped is perfect. (These are the kind you use on nachos).

How To Serve

This extremely flavorful sauce is great for dipping or basting while grilling or roasting. You can learn all about the origins of this iconic Southern BBQ sauce here.

This White BBQ Sauce is so rich and incredibly flavorful.

The dark corn syrup is lightly sweet and it incredible matched against the acidic apple cider vinegar and horseradish sauce. The cayenne pepper and pickled jalapeños give it just a little kick, but not too much!

Alabama White Sauce

Alabama White Sauce can be found all over the Southeast Southern states of the U.S. We love how the horseradish blends so perfectly with the vinegar and pepper for an amazingly delicious tangy sauce! Use on pork chops, ribs, and grilled chicken.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp dark corn syrup
  • 1 tbsp prepared horseradish sauce
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice Usually one half of a lemon
  • ½ tsp Kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp pickled jalapeno, minced

Instructions

  • Combine the ingredients in a bowl and whisk together.
  • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 24 hours before serving.

    Super delicious, not overwhelming (spicy!) and so very easy to make! Served it with the grilled chicken kabobs! Brilliant!
