Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ cup onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp Bourbon optional
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice fresh
  • 2 sprigs rosemary fresh

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and sauté until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
4 tbsp unsalted butter, ½ cup onion, 2 cloves garlic
  • Add the tomato paste, Dijon, Worcestershire sauce, Bourbon, vinegar, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Stir until completely combined.
3 tbsp tomato paste, 2 tbsp Dijon mustard, ¼ cup Worcestershire sauce, 2 tbsp Bourbon, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • Add the fresh rosemary and simmer for 5 minutes.
    2 sprigs rosemary
  • Remove from heat and strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a small bowl. Press the back of a wooden spoon or spatula onto the mixture to help the liquid completely pass through, leaving behind the solids.
  • Serve at once, or transfer to an air-tight container with lid and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

This recipe can easily be doubled, tripled, or quadrupled to serve more people.  The quantities for this recipe will serve 4 to 6 people for one meal.
The alcohol in the Bourbon will cook out by about 99%.  If you prefer no alcohol at all, simply omit the Bourbon in the recipe.
The steak sauce keeps in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and freezes for up to 2 months.
