When In Washington, D.C.

A journey to the Capitol of the United States is pretty awesome anytime of the year, but planning a trip in early Spring when the infamous cherry blossoms are in full bloom is simply amazing.
There is so much history, so much culture, so much amazing architecture, so much beauty…and without a doubt…so many incredible places to dine.
The Loon and I met my mom and dad, Maudell and Jerry in D.C. this year in mid-April, which typically is a little late for the cherry blossoms, but we were coming off a severe winter, so they were late in blooming. As luck would have it the weekend we were there, they were in what the locals call ‘peak.’ Absolutely gorgeous.
I’m going to tell you about 2 amazing places that we dined at, Filomena and Old Ebbit Grill. Other noteworthy places to dine are:
Barcelona – Wine Bar and Restaurant. Trendy, great wine, tapas, beautiful location. Located in a newer, trendy part of D.C. called Logan Circle. Not too pricey.
Range – Executive Chef Bryan Voltaggio. Offers modern interpretations using seasonal ingredients from Mid-Atlantic region prepared through classic techniques. Very popular with local restaurant-goers. Kind of pricey, but the food is fantastic. Reservations strongly recommended.
Founding Farmers – located only 3 blocks from the White House, this place has wonderful, fresh comfort food and won’t break the bank. Favorites are the fish and chips, fried green tomatoes and corn bread with real corn baked in. Reservations strongly recommended.
