Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 14.5 oz can whole pitted sour cherries, in water - not drained

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 F.
  2. Place butter in deep casserole dish and melt in oven.
  3. Mix together the flour, 1 cup of sugar and milk, until batter is smooth.
  4. Pour batter over the melted butter, do not stir.
  5. Empty the can of cherries over the top.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup sugar over the top.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, or until golden.
  8. Serve with ice cream.
