Steamed Asian Salmon with Asparagus

We just love our Awesome Kitchen Gadgets - Breville Steam Zone to make this super easy, super delicious and super healthy dish! If you don't have the Breville Steam Zone, just steam as you normally would, but you're going to love doing this in the Breville Steam Zone!

Serves: 2 - 4
  • 3 tablespoons plus ½ cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, finely grated
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 4 6-oz. skinless salmon fillets
  • ¼ cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 bunch of scallions, thinly sliced, for garnishing the salmon
  • ½ lb fresh asparagus, end trimmed
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (optional)
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice wine, the ginger, and garlic.
  2. Add the salmon and turn to coat. Let marinate for 10 to 30 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, in a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the vinegar, lemon juice, sugar, and remaining ½ cup soy sauce and remaining 1 tablespoon rice wine. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and simmer until about ⅓ cup of sauce remains, about 3 minutes.
  5. Remove the salmon from the marinade and place in steamer. Set steamer on low and for 10 minutes.
  6. Place the asparagus in the steamer and steam on high for 7 minutes.
  7. Synch the timers and steam until finished!
  8. Plate the cooked salmon and asparagus, spooning some of the sauce over the salmon and a pat of butter on the asparagus (if using).
  9. Sprinkle the scallions over the salmon.
  10. Enjoy!




  • This looks so delicious! There are some discrepancies in the recipe above though. There is no mention of the sugar in the list of ingredients (How much Sugar should be added to the sauce?)

    Also ingredients list has green onions but there is no mention what to use the green onion for…Is this to garnish the fish?

      Thank you so much for letting us know the missing elements of the recipe! Yikes!! The recipe has been updated to reflect the following: Add 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar to the other ingredients listed for making the sauce. The scallions are for topping the finished salmon.
