Steel-Cut Oatmeal has such amazing texture. With just a bit of chewy and full-bodied bite, the texture and flavor of the oats are spectacular.

We’ve always enjoyed oatmeal for breakfast when dining in a nice lodge and restaurant (The Four Seasons in Whistler, Canada comes to mind). But replicating that texture and taste at home has been a challenge.

But no longer. Look at that amazing steel-cut oatmeal!

I had never tried steel cut oats before so when I decided to start eating more healthy I started searching for cinnamon raisin oats and found your recipe. It is a bonus that it is made using the Instant Pot 🙂

Well, I have to say that I just wanted to eat it for supper! (I was making for easy breakfasts). Thank you so much for sharing this heavenly recipe and I look forward to seeing more!

Delicious and so easy. I’ve never made steel cut oats in my instant pot before and I am not going back! I accidentally reversed the liquids 2 cups milk, 1 1/2 cup water, it was perfection. Thanks for the great recipe.

This is fantastic! Sautéing the oats in butter was an amazing idea. I reduced the water by 1/2c. because I like my oatmeal a little thicker. I used monkfruit instead of sugar and omitted the brown sugar – and these were kindergartener approved!

    • Awesome! So glad you had success with the oatmeal. Your modifications sound perfect and so glad the kiddo approved, too. Thank you for letting us know!! All the best, Kris & Wesley

I was just looking at the recipe again in preparation for tomorrow’s breakfast. It will be about the tenth time I’ve made this delicious oatmeal, and it’s about time I complimented it. Hands down, my husband, three sons and I believe this to be THE pinacle of oatmeal recipes. Texture, flavor, sweetness are perfect, though every once in a while I’ll also throw in pecans for an extra bit of decadence. Thank you for upping our oatmeal game to pro levels!

This was absolutely delicious and so quick to make. I diced a fresh pear to use because I was out of raisins but otherwise made it just as written. Toasting the oats first is an inspired idea.

I have loved every single recipe of yours that I’ve tried. Thank you so much for sharing them.

    • Oh, wow! I bet pears were fantastic. We agree, the nice toasty taste of the oats is so nice. We are so glad that you liked them, and can’t thank you enough for taking the time to let us know. Lots more yumminess to come! Have a GREAT week! xoxo Kris & Wesley

  • Ok, tell me all about the instant pot? Is it worth jumping in?! I love my crockpot and you can tell I’ve been on a kick with the recipes lately ( http://www.behindtheplates.com) but, considering hopping on the Instant Pot bandwagon too! This oatmeal looks fantastic by the way 😉

    • Hi Missy! We (well, Kris), really have fallen big time for my Instant Pot. We are always trying new gadgets and tools for the blog. Often, I’ll try a new one, like it, then it goes on a shelf and I only pull it out once in a while to use. But my IP, I use at least a couple times, every single week. I love my slow cooker, too, but this produces super delicious slow cooked food…in a fraction of the time. I think you would really like it. And we LOVE your blog. Beautiful, fun, informative…and inspirational! Very cool. Let’s stay in touch! xo Kris & Wesley

  • I am very anxious to try this. But… I want to make sure. Is the “last” in the recipe supposed to be “oats?”
“Add the last and stir to coat.” It must be the oats, but just checking. I am adding steel cut oats, raisins and milk to my Walmart pickup order. Thanks and love ya’ll.

    • Hi Sherry!! Thank you for letting us know. We made made that correction, but looks like it didn’t get saved! (technology!). Yes, it should be ‘oats.’ The recipe has been corrected. You’re really going to like this!! Let us know what you think. Thanks so much for reaching out to us, and we send much, much love to you, too. xoxo Kris & Wesley
